Tori 'Lis' Miller, Technical Game Designer & Researcher

Hi there! My name is Tori, though I go by Lis in some spaces, and I'm a technical designer in the South Midlands, UK. Recently, I finished work on the highly anticipated Fable (Xbox/Playground Games), where I worked within the quest team to create the main quest-line and related gameplay features. Before my time on Fable, I completed an MSc with First-Class Honours in Computer Game Design at the University of Staffordshire, in which I focused on game AI, gameplay systems design, and narrative-driven games. My main interests in game development are in player mechanics for action-adventure games, designing puzzles, telling stories thoughtfully via gameplay mechanics, and building deep and scalable gameplay systems.

Aside from my professional output, I have also presented talks on game development at Snappy Gurus Career Week, as well as a postmortem of the virtual tour project 'Staffsverse' for the University of Staffordshire, and the Interactive Games Post-Graduate Research Conference where I discussed the development and research of my dynamic horror system. Additionally, I have experience working with motion controls (Nintendo Joy-Con & Wii), and Augmented Reality games, due to my love for innovative games. To relax outside of my time active in game development, I also record my own music and spend time outdoors doing photography.

Currently, I am seeking in-person (between the London and Birmingham areas) or remote (UK/EU) work in technical design, gameplay design or gameplay programming roles. During my current employment gap, I am working as a solo developer on a narrative puzzle game hobby project, which I am journaling the development of over at Twitter.
